Job Summary and Requirements

This is to fill one full-time permanent position working 75 hours bi-weekly.

As a member of the Policy and Program Support unit, the Finance Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive financial support to the Land Management Branch. This includes preparing various financial statements and reports, as well as other financial documentation to assist program areas. In this role, you will handle key tasks such as preparing variance reports, managing year-end activities, and compiling annual reports. Additionally, you will oversee the financial aspects of the Agreement for Sale Program. This position also involves conducting research and analysis on land financial matters, as well as offering support and training to branch staff to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions and reporting.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field
  • Experience performing a broad range of financial functions such as preparing financial reports, accounts payable and receivable functions and reconciliations
  • Experience using a wide variety of computer programs, applications or software such as computerized financial systems, Excel, word processing, and databases
  • Experience providing client service to the public
  • Experience applying and interpreting legislation and regulations would be an asset
  • Experience using Yukon Government computerized financial systems (i.e. FMIS, Quest and Front End) would be an asset

Candidates who have post-secondary education combined with significant experience in the above-mentioned demonstrated abilities may be equally considered.
