Job Description:
Reporting to the Provincial Manager, Financial Services, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for a variety of general accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciling general ledger accounts/bank statements, assists in maintaining the fixed asset ledger, as well as performing month/year end procedures which includes the generation and distribution of financial statements and financial analysis of accounts.
QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma in Business Administration/Accounting plus two (2) years previous relevant experience in a comparable accounting environment using financial software/systems; OR Accounting Certificate plus five (5) years previous relevant experience in a comparable accounting environment using financial software/systems.
Experience: Previous experience in an accounting environment and using financial software/systems.
Skills:
Ability to apply basic accounting principles in order to perform basic accounting functions.
Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft applications.
Ability to operate all types of office equipment.
Moderate judgment and problem solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a variety of alternatives.
Ability to effectively communicate factual information both orally and in writing.
Human relations skills required to empathize with complaints and/or concerns and establish rapport with patients, the public and other staff.
Accuracy of fine motor movements for typing/data entry is required.
Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
