Reporting to the controller, the Accounting Technician is responsible for managing accounts payable, including processing raw-material purchasing, supplier accounts, helping with inventory and a variety of month-end tasks. The incumbent must perform accounting follow-up for corporate purchase orders and is responsible for bank deposits.  The incumbent also handles certain tasks for the fulfillment and logistics technician and the senior accounting technician in their absence.

Duties include:

  • Managing the creation of purchase orders for raw materials required for production; coordinates the logistics required for their delivery;
  • Managing creation of supplier accounts; opens accounts and limits.
  • Matching purchase orders, bills of lading, and corresponding invoices; obtaining the required authorizations; encoding and books to the appropriate accounts; sends cheques and payments to suppliers;
  • Producing end-of-month accruals, reports, and analyses for all purchases;
  • Receiving orders, enters approved orders into the accounting system and production schedule and prepares the documents required for production of the order;
  • Preparing customer invoicing and ensures approval;
  • Follow-up weekly overdue accounts and sends statements as per established procedure;
  • Performing bank reconciliation for US and CAD accounts;
  • Receiving documents on hours worked from managers and verifies all additional information needed by the payroll-service provider;
  • Verifying the information provided by the payroll-service provider prior to transmission and payroll issuance;
  • Ensuring that all changes (rates, address, new employee, etc.) are sent to the payroll-service suppliers once HR approval has been given;
  • Overseeing and ensuring the application of the 5S method, total quality management, problem resolution and continuous improvement.                                                

Qualifications and competencies

  • DEC or Bachelors in accounting or any other related field                        
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as senior accounting technician (an asset)
  • Expertise with accounting software such as Accpac and Simply Accounting and intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience with inventory or payroll management (an asset)                        
  • Experience in total quality management, continuous improvement, problems resolution, added value production and all it's tools                                    
  • Training on HACCP principles and their implementation (considered an asset)
  • French spoken and written; Bilingual (spoken and written) an asset.

Working conditions

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (7:30am - 6pm)
