Position Title: Credit Analyst
Reports to: AVP, Capital Markets
Department: Investments
Term: Temporary Full-Time - Twelve (12) Month Contract


Work Arrangements

This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.



The Opportunity: Equitable is looking for a Public Credit Analyst to join our Investments division who is passionate about Capital Markets and Investments and has investment analysis experience, with proven experience preparing reports.

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare reports that includes company, industry, and financial analysis to evaluate credit quality of potential investments for senior management's consideration.
  • On an ongoing basis, track earnings, corporate developments, credit ratings, and industry trends to evaluate credit quality and valuation of portfolio securities.
  • Obtain insights and feedback from management and rating agencies to assess a rating agency's risk rating on portfolio holdings.
  • Generate relative value trade ideas and execute trades (buying and selling of securities) within policy limits and trading authority.

What you will bring:

  • Undergraduate or Master's degree in Business, Economics, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or Math.
  • 1 to 2 years of investment experience with a focus on credit analysis, knowledge of finance, accounting, and investments.
  • Working towards obtaining a professional designation (e.g. CPA, CFA, CIM).
  • Excellent command of MS Excel (knowledge of VBA and other programming languages is an asset).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to concisely relay information.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated capability to work independently and within a broader team.
