Purpose of Position
This position manages the Finance and Administration (F&A) Department for the Centre which includes facility operations. This position oversees a broad range of financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, accounting, analysis, reporting, and advisory activities to support Centre management, Board of Directors, and auditors to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, guidelines, and directives.
This position will manage all staff and budget activities for the F&A Department. This position must ensure that all F&A operations and activities are compliant with all Centre and provincial legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and directives.
Key Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reviewing financial statements, quarterly and annual budgets and reports). The incumbent will support external auditors by preparing and providing all reports and schedules. Oversees accounts payable and receivable and procurement processes and is responsible for general ledger, reconciliations, and account monitoring to ensure integrity of accounting functions. Reviews payroll processing and coordinates year-end T4 preparation including various reconciliations (e.g. WSIB, EHT, EI).
This position oversees the administrative functions for the Centre including shipping, receiving, mail, office supplies, front desk customer service, public tours and room occupancy agreements.
Coordinates and provides recommendations for facility operations, equipment leases and facility rental agreements and billings. Manages the maintenance and operation of the Centre’s fleet of vehicles. Communicates with the building owner and property maintenance providers to coordinate lease payments, work orders and building and property projects.
Supports and coordinates treasury functions including review and approval of HST adjustments, corporate travel credit card and purchase card systems, GIC investments and administrates the Centre’s online banking functions. People Management
Manages department staff including work assignments, objectives, and compliance with legislative and applicable Centre and government directives (e.g. respectful workplace policy). Employee relations including performance management, coaching, mentoring, training and development, attendance management and department recruitment. Conducts department meetings and ensures regular communication with the team; collaborates with other department managers to ensure consistent messaging and application of policies for fairness and equity.
Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Knowledge, Education and Training
This position requires a minimum university degree in a specialized field such as business, accounting or related field and a CPA, CMA or CGA designation. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to develop high-level reports and spreadsheets within these applications. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Teams.
Extensive experience with financial reporting software systems, in particular QuickBooks.
Experience
A minimum of seven years of experience in an accounting and financial management role. People management skills with a minimum of three years of experience in a people management role to provide leadership to F&A staff.
Prior experience with cost accounting is a strong asset.
Proven ability to sustain a professional demeanor in all aspects of the role, even when working under the pressure of simultaneously balancing a variety of activities and complex demands. The incumbent requires good organizational skills to effectively prioritize duties and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail is required as the incumbent is required to analyze, interpret, and process multiple sources of financial information. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to ensure positive internal and external communication with vendors, community partners, management and the Board.
