The Senior Manager, Regulatory Governance (RESL) contributes to the overall success of Retail Credit Risk, Real Estate Secured Lending in Canada by supporting the activities under the Bank's regulatory compliance management program to ensure the Real Estate Secured Lending portfolio is managed in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

This position is critical to ensure an effective regulatory governance program is in place for the Real Estate Secured Lending portfolio and to identify and address issues that can result in substantial regulatory and/or reputational risk.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Support the activities under the Bank's Regulatory Compliance Management Program for the RESL portfolio including - horizon scanning (identifying regulatory changes), maintaining regulatory and control libraries, conducting Compliance Risk Assessments and related activities to comply with the Bank's Regulatory Compliance Management Policies.
  • Be responsible for monitoring and identifying regulatory changes that impact the RESL portfolio, identifying impacted groups, and assessing the potential impact of the change to the Bank. Report and escalate identified deficiencies to management and monitors corrective actions.
  • Support the review of the Residential Mortgage Underwriting Policy (RMUP) and other related policies, to ensure compliance with governing regulations (e.g. B-20 Guideline), internal requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Partner with the Business Line (RESL) to develop plans to remediate issues raised by Internal Audit and/or regulatory examinations and support annual review of regulatory and Bank-driven initiatives (e.g. Self-Assessments).
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of industry best practices and regulatory requirements and communicate findings with recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including the business line, control and support functions to maintain effective internal communication through the ongoing sharing and acquiring of information.
  • Carry out special projects or investigations as requested by senior management.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • University degree is required; MBA a plus
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience in the financial services industry
  • Understanding of retail credit, risk management, policies/procedures associated with retail credit products and delivery channels
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, with ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and provide sound recommendations
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.)
