The Human Resources Department is currently seeking to fill a full time Payroll Coordinator. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this position will provide Payroll focused administrative support as well as other duties as required.

Job Description

  • Process a biweekly payroll of 800+ salaried, hourly unionized and non-unionized employees using UKG Pro and Workforce Time and Attendance System.
  • Process new hires and input employee status, salary and other changes in UKG Pro and Workforce Time and Attendance System and ensure all e-files are updated.
  • Preparation of all cheque requisitions, including sending wire transfer information and report to third parties.
  • Process terminations, including issuing of ROEs and responding to Service Canada inquiries.
  • Generate various payroll reports, month end journal entries and bank reconciliation.
  • Creating and maintaining HRIS and time and attendance reports.
  • Administer vacation and lieu time for salaried employees and vacation and sick time for hourly employees.
  • Active involvement in the year end process.
  • Administer and reconcile payroll, benefits and pension accounts.
  • Respond to requests from employees, managers, and third parties.
  • Prepare reports from Workforce and UKG Pro as needed.
  • Obtain an understanding of the Collective Agreements as it applies to Payroll

Job Skills and Requirements

  • A post-secondary diploma in a related field and Payroll Compliance Certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant payroll experience with a good understanding of government/legislative payroll regulations and Employment Standards.
  • Experience in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
  • Experience in Ultimate Software HRIS and Payroll System an asset .
  • Experience in Workforce Time and Attendance System an asset.
  • Detail oriented and deadline driven.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and resolve sensitive payroll matters is critical.
