Reporting to the Director, Sustainability Reporting and Disclosures, you will manage Sun Life's submissions to sustainability rating organizations such as Sustainalytics, MSCI, ISS and S&P Global. You will lead analysis of Sun Life's results, identify opportunities to enhance our sustainability reporting practices and communicate results to key stakeholders. You will also manage the development of responses to Client/supplier questionnaires and other ad-hoc sustainability assessments. You will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, engaging with leaders across Sun Life to develop high-quality disclosures and continuously enhance reporting practices to meet stakeholder expectations.

Our ideal candidate has experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, strong analytical skills and people management experience. We are looking for someone who can use their passion for sustainability to demonstrate through high-quality reporting and disclosures Sun Life's progress in embedding sustainability in everything we do, to create competitive advantage for our business and have a positive impact on society. This is a hybrid role requiring presence at our 1 York office 2-4 days per month.

What will you do?

  • Manage the development of responses to external sustainability ratings and assessments (e.g., Sustainalytics, MSCI, ISS and S&P Global, working collaboratively with subject matter experts across the company
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance sustainability reporting practices to meet growing requirements and address any gaps in current disclosures
  • Prepare communications to share results from ratings
  • Maintain database of responses to Client/supplier questions (e.g., RFPs) and respond to other ad-hoc sustainability assessments
  • Manage and support the development of team member(s)
  • Monitor sustainability reporting trends and review monthly briefings
  • Support sustainability award applications and review recognition tracking
  • Assist with other sustainability reporting and disclosures (e.g., annual sustainability report) as required

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum 3-5 years of sustainability experience ideally within insurance, asset management or other financial services; experience in/or knowledge of Sun Life's business is an asset
  • University degree or equivalent in sustainability, business or data management
  • Strong project management skills including prioritization and time management to meet reporting deadlines
  • Dedication to accuracy and keen attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data to develop insights and recommendations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize key concepts
  • People management experience
  • Results-oriented individual

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in corporate sustainability reporting and familiarity with ESG ratings and assessments strongly preferred (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, S&P Global)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
