What is the opportunity?

Reporting to the Senior Manager, P&CB Platform Financial Control, the Manager will play a key role in credit quality reporting for Canadian Banking. This includes assisting in the month end accounting for allowance for credit losses (ACL) and provision for credit losses (PCL) and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of credit quality results. This role will also be responsible for preparing and/or reviewing various disclosures and regulatory reporting as it relates to ACL/PCL, gross impaired loans and delinquencies. The manager is expected to collaborate with various stakeholders across Finance functions and Group Risk Management teams in order to drive change and improve credit quality reporting processes. This includes maintaining a curious mindset to bring continuous improvement to current processes and help further develop data analytic and automation opportunities across the platform.

What you will do?

  • Accurate accounting and reporting of monthly ACL and PCL, impairment, and delinquencies.
  • Ensuring accurate reconciliation of Stage 3 ACL by preparing Standard of Documentation (SOD) and attesting to the accuracy of the balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare or review monthly regulatory reporting and quarterly external financial disclosures.
  • Assist in the re-design, testing and implementation of Canadian Banking's Credit Quality Reporting System.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to further improve control processes, streamline and improve productivity through manual process changes and automation.
  • Support the preparation for audit readiness, including the enhancement of current policies and procedures for key processes within Platform Control
  • Lead or participate in ad-hoc projects and information as required

What you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Accounting designation - CPA, CGA, CMA
  • 3+ years accounting and finance related experience, including previous experience in financial reporting. Experience in financial control, and/or credit risk would be an asset.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to establish strong relationships at all levels across the enterprise.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of RBC's financial systems and processes
  • Financial Services industry experiences with knowledge of Personal & Commercial Banking Business
  • Experience with working with big data including Visualization Tools (i.e. Tableau)
