What is the opportunity?

The Manager, Canadian Banking Finance, Distribution provides Finance Advisory Support to Canadian Banking, Distribution, including Branch Channel, Advice Centre, Digital, Physical Networks/ATM, and Strategy/National Office. This role plays a key role in the preparation of monthly management reporting, including estimates, investigating variances, and resolving issues, preparing reporting packages and supporting communication.

The Manager will support the financial planning and forecasting processes in partnership with the business and Senior Management within Finance, including gathering inputs, updating models, preparing scenarios and communicating results. Acts as a vital partner to enable RBC's ambition and business performance through the delivery of meaningful and actionable financial insights and advice.

What you will do?

  • Proactively provide analysis and insights to finance leadership and business partners to enable management decision making and establishment of action plans to maximize financial performance.
  • Work closely with business partners to prepare forecasts and annual plan/5 year outlook for NIE/FTE across multiple lines of business.
  • Work with the finance team, including, Senior Director, Senior Managers to identify strategies and make recommendations to support P&L targets, including expense challenges, efficiency opportunities etc.
  • Participate in meetings with relevant Regional Banking teams to ensure an exchange of information on strategic business objectives and financial performance.
  • Develop new insights through the use of data and prepare new reports to continue to drive strategic value-added finance support

What you will need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written, with good interpersonal skills in order to establish relationships across all levels of the enterprise.
  • Excellent Excel skills (data manipulation, modelling, analysis) and the ability distill key insights into presentation format (PowerPoint).
  • Experience in financial reporting & analysis and cost management.
  • Experience using metrics, KPIs and cost/value drivers in performance management
  • Experience with unique financial systems such as EPM (Cognos TM1).
  • Solid business acumen and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a team setting
  • Curious and proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Comfortable dealing with incomplete information, uncertainty and change

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to the Bank's Retail & Business network, products and services.
  • B. Comm, CPA-CA/CMA/CGA, MBA or equivalent work experience
  • A varied working career including positions in a number of areas of RBC or another financial institution.
  • Knowledge and understanding of banking products and processes
