Career Opportunity

We have a great opportunity in our Finance Department. We are currently looking to hire an Administrator, Accounts Payable.

What You Will Do

You will be responsible for the scheduling of all payment methods and the finalization of cheque processing activities and for periodic bank reconciliation of cleared and outstanding cheques; processing expense reimbursement requests and reconciling payments with Payroll records. In addition, you will be responsible for reviewing and updating supplier information in SIMS and create SAP BP (Business Partner); prepare cheque stats for KPI's and diverse administrative tasks for the Accounts Payable section.

Administer the IFS Supplier file including jointly held responsibility for requests from AP staff to add suppliers not paid against purchase orders to IFS and/or to make changes to suppliers already on the system; verify and scrutinize requests; ensure proper documentation is provided for any name change; and forward all requests for processing; updating accounts payable transactions on-line; execute the appropriate transactions; set minimum and maximum payment limits; and set up alternate bank information for suppliers paid in US funds; interdepartmental/jointly maintain supplier file(s); inputting changes to remit to addresses based on third party garnishments; track payments and update legal

Monitor garnishments received by TTC Legal department and ensuring payment is made and provided to Legal to record

In addition to the above you will be responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer

What Qualification Do You Bring?

  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
  • Several years of experience in a similar environment using an automated financial system
  • Good understanding of Accounts Payable function and principles; and knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a PC and various computer software applications such as Microsoft Office, databases, and strong working knowledge of financial systems including experience with the testing of systems and related modifications
  • Strong research and problem solving skills with the ability to analyze various forms of data
  • Must be detail oriented as well as possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as a team member in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with multiple deadlines
  • Must have or quickly acquire working knowledge of TTC policies and procedures related to invoice processing
  • Must have or quickly acquire working knowledge of the Industrial & Financial System (IFS) related to Accounts Payable processes
  • Must have or quickly acquire working knowledge of SAP related to Accounts Payable processes
  • Must have or quickly acquire knowledge of the TTC's procurement procedures and IFS related transactions
  • Must have knowledge of banking procedures as well as EFT/ACH and ad-hoc EFT processes
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
