What is the opportunity?

As a Financial Analyst within Personal & Commercial Banking - Financial Control, you will serve as a key partner to the Financial Control Team and Canadian Banking Financial Advisors. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an analytical and accounting mindset along with a willingness to learn about Canadian Banking Finance.

What will you do?

  • Financial Analysis: Participate in the research, analyses and accounting assessments of different financial products (e.g. Credit Cards, Investments, Loans, Mortgages, etc.) within the P&CB business. Engage in the variance analysis for the Canadian Banking Balance Sheet and P&L.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the streamlining of the monthly reporting of Canadian Banking reconciliation results in alignment with the Enterprise Attestation Policy. Participate in the review of reconciliations and attestations as part of the monthly cycle. Participate in the review of quarterly disclosures due to the Financial & Regulatory Reporting team.
  • Projects: Participate in the review of new and ongoing projects and initiatives from a risk, control and accounting perspective. Engage in the review of process maps and narratives for enhanced documentation. Participate in activities to further streamline current processes and improve productivity through automation and process changes.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Assist with other ad-hoc tasks as required.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Pursuit of a degree in Finance or Business with a focus on accounting or financial analysis
  • Self-motivated and independent worker with a solutions driven mind-set
  • Team player who can adapt easily and work well in a virtual environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Interest in the financial services industry

Nice-to-have

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (e.g. macros) and database software
  • Working towards the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation

In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
