Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) is seeking an Accounts Payable Coordinator to join the Finance team in a fast-paced, challenging, and exciting work environment. The ideal candidate for this position will have 2-3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role with similar responsibilities. The Accounts Payable Coordinator is responsible for executing Accounts Payable activities and reports to the Finance Manager at EFC. Key responsibilities include: processing payments to suppliers, administering expense claims, and, administering disbursements related to programs being funded by the Administration Funds.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the accrual system for purchase orders
  • Process and balance invoices with purchase orders, expense claims, release and balance cheques, and process batch reports and purchase journals
  • Administer invoice payments in both Canadian and US dollars
  • Maintain accounts payable journals, registers and void cheques file and update the accounts payable system
  • Respond to accounts payable inquiries
  • Identify cost recovery items and notify Financial Analyst to initiate invoicing process to outside agencies for reimbursement
  • Act as a back-up for Accounts Payable Coordinator (Pooled Income Funds) and Financial Analyst during their absence
  • Assist with requests for analysis of information, annual audit and other ad-hoc assignments
  • Responsible for general filing of invoices and other relevant accounts payable information

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Understanding of general accounting principles.
  • Requires specific knowledge of standardized work methods, tools, processes and approaches related to accounts payable.
  • Knowledge of relevant EFC policies and procedures (e.g. expense policies).
  • Ability to read and understand financial documents is required to complete day-to-day tasks (e.g. financial statements, reviewing budget and accounting activities/procedures, invoices).
  • Ability to use various software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office).
  • Writing skills are required to prepare reports, record information and communicate with other staff with respect to accounts payable issues.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations is needed to complete job tasks (e.g. invoices, bank deposits or financial calculations).

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum: 1 year post-secondary training in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 - 3 years experience in an accounts payable role with similar responsibilities.
