BGC Jane and Finch Club is seeking a passionate, dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team in a fulltime capacity to oversee the operations of our Education Program in our Jane and Finch community.

Education Manager description:

Develops, promotes, implements, supervises, supports and evaluates the Club's Learn On Educational program in our Jane and Finch Community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deliver, and or support an educational development program that provides youth members with the opportunities for growth and development in their school /education planning , career planning and employment
  • Recruit members for the Raising Grade Program
  • Prepare youth with the necessary skills to transition from high-school to post-secondary education
  • Recruit volunteers to assist with the program as Mentors to work 1-on-1 with mentees either in-person or virtually.
  • Assist program participants in learning about careers that match their interests or help discover it through the program.
  • Promote digital literacy and skills, hands-on learning opportunities, specific focus on personal interests/goals, and supportive relationships with mentors and volunteers.
  • Recruit , train and supervise placements students from post-secondary schools -to be mentors
  • Develop a network of educators from local schools- middle and high school to assist with recruitment and with workshops.
  • Develop a network of local professionals to mentor and support the raising the grade program.
  • Network with local agencies, schools and youth groups to assist in the recruitment of participants and the delivery of the Raising the Grade program for youth.
  • Ensure the safety and security of Club members
  • Consults and work with staff team, community, groups and other service providers to ensure a high quality program.
  • Work together with the other Education Managers in ensuring a delivery of a successful program in all three of our communities.
  • Secures, trains, supervises, directs, supports, evaluates and terminates (if necessary) part-time, volunteer, practicum students in the performance of their duties.
  • Monitors, the budget allocated for Raise the Grade program under the guidance of Director of Operations/ Community Directors.
  • Seeks out new funding opportunities to support new and ongoing projects in consultations with Director of Operations/Community Directors.
  • Maintains all program registration, attendance and statistical information as required by the Club and any funder.
  • Advocates for children, youth, the Club and Boys and Girls Clubs with other agencies, the community, governments and funders.
  • Ensures all equipment and software are in safe working condition and recommends when software and hardware updates are required.
  • Recommends policies to the Director of Operations/Community Directors and/or assists the management team/Board in formulation of these policies for the effective operation of the Club.
  • Ensures that legal obligations of the Club are met and any potential risks are reported to the appropriate persons and or authorities.
  • Actively participates as a member of the local Club's management team.
  • Provides leadership, support and participates in all of the Club's functions, special events and fund raising activities.



Skills and Qualifications

  • a Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or relevant experience
  • 2 to 3 years' prior experience working with youth between the ages of 12 to 17
  • 2-3 years of experience in providing training, workshops, or other educational experiences to children and youth.
  • Experience and knowledge base of E-portfolios, and digital learning
  • Experience with data collection and program evaluation.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in various settings.
  • Knowledge of/or experience in health promotion, advocacy, or public policy for youth
  • Knowledge of/or experience using youth and adult training/learning strategies.
  • First-Aid/CPR-C - valid before Training.
  • A valid Ontario Driver's license (F Class preferable).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate well with patrons and community partners
  • Team player
  • Passionate, committed, resourceful, self-aware, patient and respectful about working with children and youth.
  • Digital literacy skills including web design, WordPress, internet use, email communication, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Ability to work as a team with the Community Director or other Program Managers and other mentors to facilitate learning, growth and opportunity for participants.
  • Boys and Girls Club experience an asset.
  • High Five Certified- Principles of Healthy Childhood Development and Quest II trained an asset.
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete a Police Records Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Successful applicants will be required to show proof of vaccination ( 2 to 3 doses )
  • Hours of work will be afternoon/ evening and occasional weekend.
