Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounts Payable, the Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the accounts payable team and function, for the Canadian corporate legal entities.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Review AP processed by AP clerks for accurate coding, backup and approval, amount, tax coding, and other details to ensure accurate recording of AP transactions
  • Assist in design, implementation and monitoring of proper policies surrounding the AP function such as capital asset, prepaids, employee expense policies
  • Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of proper processes surrounding the AP function such as wire preparation, cash recording for non-cheque AP items, and EFT implementation
  • Oversee the work of 4 direct reports, including providing daily guidance and instruction, conducting regular employee reviews, and provide input on employee annual performance
  • Ensure regularly scheduled payments for rent, insurance, and board of directors are correctly set up, re-occurring, and paid in a timely manner
  • Respond to daily AP enquiries from vendors and internal staff
  • Set up direct withdrawal payments for insurance companies and rental payments and liaise with landlords and insurance companies to ensure no outstanding liabilities exist
  • Participate in special projects as required
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • College diploma or University degree
  • 3 years of relevant business experience
  • People management experience is a must
  • Proficient on excel and experience with a large ERP system is an asset
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills and self-initiative to build and guide a strong and effective Accounts Payable team
