Utility Person - Solid Waste (Up to 5) - Leaf & Brush Collection
Position Summary
**Please note: Pay rates are based on 2023 rates. These are temporary positions for up to 4 months**
THE HOURS FOR THIS POSITION ARE UP TO 40 HOURS PER WEEK TO SUPPORT LEAF & BRUSH COLLECTION
Load leaf, brush, garbage, organics and recyclables into solid waste vehicles
Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any deficiencies, unsafe situations or conditions to the Supervisor
Work in the spirit of team participation
Perform varied tasks and duties within the Solid Waste Department as required
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Competencies
**This position receives 4% in lieu of vacation + 13% in lieu of all benefits in addition to hourly rate of pay**
Experience performing labour intensive duties
Possess and maintain a valid 'G' License, with a satisfactory driver's abstract of no more than 3 demerit points
Preference given to those candidates with experience in the waste industry

Able to perform the essential duties of the job
Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions
Ability to operate controls on the machinery in a safe efficient manner
Ability to interact with the public in a polite manner
Hours of work; able to receive a call at 5:00 a.m. to report to work on same day
Must be willing to work all and/or any shifts as required
Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check
