Job Profile

The City of Cambridge has an immediate opening for a Storm water Analyst working within the Corporate Services Department, Financial Services Division. Reporting to the Supervisor of Tax & Water, this position is responsible for the following duties:

What you will be doing

  • Updates and maintains storm water GIS and Vailtech database daily for billing purposes.
  • Creates storm water accounts and applicable fees and reviews for storm water billing errors.
  • Provides analysis of weekly storm water billings.
  • Generates water and wastewater billings using the utility billing software.
  • Investigates billing errors and issues with water accounts and manually prepares water bills, re-bills due to corrections as well as responds to customers whose concerns may have escalated from Mayor, Council, CAO and senior management.
  • Prepares accounts and billings for new builds and assigns walks and routes for meter readers in new subdivisions
  • Responds to internal & external customer inquiries in a professional manner
  • Manages inactive water accounts
  • Prepares final water bills, meter exchanges, new build accounts and rebills on any accounts with errors
  • Maintains pre-authorized payments on water accounts as per requests received from customers
  • Monitors and reviews leak alerts each week day and reviewing and determining if there is a leak at a property. Reaching out to customers to advise that they may have a leak within their property.
  • Monitors and reviews all failures received from meters each week day. Running failure report, reviewing, and accepting failures. Submitting service requests through Maximo when we feel failures are valid and need to be investigated further

Education

3 year College diploma in Accounting/Business Admin or University Accounting program and computer courses

Experience and Knowledge

  • A minimum 1 to 2 years' billing experience and experience in an intermediate accounting level position or equivalent
  • Keyboarding skills and accurate data entry are very important when generating bills and updated/creating
  • Ability to key without looking at the keyboard
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and report results of analysis
  • Strong customer service skills to address and resolve inquiries and issues effectively.
  • Experience and competency in using computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) GIS, Adobe , Vailtech database.
  • Excellent attention to detail required.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask is key

Your compensation

This position is within Grade 7 of the inside workers union Salary Schedule and has an annual salary range of $70,325 to $74,747.

Hours of work

The current regular hours of work are in accordance with the Inside Worker's Collective Agreement, (35 hours per week), Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
