About Our Opportunity
The Collections Access Librarian is a key member of the Collections Access Team at Nova Scotia Provincial Library (NSPL).
As the Collections Access Librarian, you support the collaborative development, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of the digital systems shared by the Same Page library consortium. You also oversee the NSPL cataloguing team.
Primary Accountabilities
Key accountabilities include:
- Working collaboratively with library partners and members of the Collections Access Team to:
- develop the Same Page Digital Media Collection in accordance with the Collection Development policy.
- facilitate decision-making for, and optimize the configuration of, the Same Page discovery layer.
- Supervising, and managing the performance of, the cataloguing team ensuring that:
- resources are catalogued appropriately.
- your team's work is efficient, consistent, and accurate.
- Developing and maintaining sufficient knowledge of the integrated library system to assist with supporting the system.
Qualifications and Experience
To be the successful candidate, you must possess a post-graduate degree in Library Science and 2 years of professional library experience.
As the ideal candidate, you have experience:
- With the back end of integrated library systems and/or discovery layers.
- working with cataloguing standards, processes, and procedures.
- resolving the needs and challenges of the end users of library digital resources and/or services.
- developing and promoting library collections.
- supervising and/or leading diverse teams.
- developing and maintaining strong partnerships and relationships.
- working with front and back-end library operations.
You are:
- analytical with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- able to effectively organise work, develop efficient work processes and assess work priorities.
- accurate, meticulous, and vigilant in completing your work.
- self-directed with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- able to interact effectively and work collaboratively with a variety of library partners in a complex and evolving environment.
- able to quickly learn new systems and stay current with technological developments in libraries.
- committed to the values of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

Pay Grade: PR 12
Salary Range: $2,458.24 - $2,982.67 Bi-Weekly
