The Department of Financial Planning & Analysis is seeking an energetic team player with sharp problem-solving abilities, excellent analytical and investigatory skills, high attention to detail, effective organizational and time- management skills, and comfort working both independently as well as part of a team.

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Finance Partner provides accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, analysis and leadership for financial operations within various areas at NAIT. The Finance Partner is expected to work with and provide financial leadership to NAIT Executive, senior management, middle management and support staff, and to develop business plans and prepare financial forecasts. The Finance Partner is part of the Financial Services Leadership Team which has overall responsibility for the completion of regular financial reports and the annual audited financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional expertise to the leadership team to ensure NAIT has appropriate business processes, accounting and internal controls in place to safeguard assets and support an efficient and compliant business operation.
  • Participate in investigations relating to irregularities, fraud or business process improvements.
  • Participates in the upgrade, installation and documentation of computerized systems which affect their assigned business units or NAIT's overall operations.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining management information systems to fulfill the unique reporting requirements of their assigned business area in consultation with senior management's requirements and the corresponding needs of middle management.
  • Required to understand the critical success factors of their assigned business area and attend and participate in area leadership meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA).
  • Minimum of 2 years related accounting experience is required.
  • Several years of progressive senior accounting experience relevant to the position.
  • Excellent knowledge of full accounting cycle of business operations, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash receipts, reconciliation, inventory management, internal controls and contract management, as well as budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and performance reporting.
  • Experience working in a PeopleSoft enterprise system environment is an asset.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).


Remuneration: $82,189.64 - $108,886.96 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

This means that the terms and conditions may change at a future time if the review finds that this position properly belongs within the scope of AUPE. The review is ongoing with no current forecasted date of completion.
