We are seeking a Family Office Accountant to join our organization. This role is based in our Corporate office downtown Calgary.


As the Family Office Accountant, you will manage the financial records of various family-owned companies and trusts with accuracy and discretion. Your responsibilities will include bookkeeping, reconciliations, compliance filings, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis. You will play a vital role in supporting financial initiatives for personal and business entities, contributing to strategic decision-making and due diligence processes. Success in this role will depend on your meticulous attention to detail, proactive mindset, and commitment to confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Management:

  • Maintain detailed accounting records for family office companies, trusts, and personal transactions.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare year-end financial packages for companies and trusts with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Record and reconcile personal investments on a monthly basis.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare monthly reporting packages for income, expenses, and variance to budget.
  • Conduct variance analyses and provide explanations for discrepancies.
  • Review investment reports, update benchmarks, and maintain reporting templates.
  • Create and maintain financial analyses in Excel to support decision-making.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Handle bank account transactions, monitor daily cash flow, and update forecasts.
  • Reconcile cash flow forecasts to the general ledger monthly.

Compliance and Record Keeping:

  • Ensure timely submission of compliance filings, including CRA remittances.
  • Maintain an organized electronic folder structure and document naming conventions.

Collaboration and Process Improvement:

  • Collaborate with team members and operational companies on financial issues and projects.
  • Adhere to family office processes, recommending improvements where applicable.
  • Support research, analysis, and due diligence on new opportunities.

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting with strong financial acumen.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
  • Strategic mindset for long-term financial planning and analysis.

Working Conditions:
This role is based in the Calgary Corporate Office and operates in a highly confidential, detail-oriented environment. Extended hours may be required during month-end, year-end, or other high-demand periods.
