WHAT WILL YOU DO

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the responsibilities of the Accounting Technician is to ensure prompt billing and payments, correct recording/coding, and effective follow-up with vendors and customers for YYC Calgary International and Springbank Airport operations.

WHATS THE TEAM LIKE

The Accounting & Finance Team provides oversight, direction, and support in all aspects of accounting at The Calgary Airport Authority. The team works closely and collaboratively with both internal and external partners in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Check and audit amounts, dates, and information.
  • Assign codes and enter data into the computer system.
  • Verify codes and names for accuracy.
  • Match data, handle discrepancies, generate invoices and cheques, and prepare for distribution.
  • Handling Customer Queries:
  • Address queries by telephone and e-mail.
  • Identify information needs and respond promptly.
  • Timely input and verification of deposit information.
  • Match and enter deposit details.
  • Identify outstanding receivables/payables and establish accruals.
  • Run and distribute reports (e.g., audit trails, CABS reports, payment claims, expense and parkade reports).
  • Cross-train co-workers to ensure coverage and task completion.
  • Print invoices, photocopy documents, and manage mail distribution.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • The ability to gain and maintain a RAIC (RAIC Program and Application Information)
  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of previous experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with financial statements, ledger management, and reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Accurate and efficient data entry abilities.
  • Experience with managing and entering financial data.
  • High level of accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and files.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle customer queries and interact with team members.
  • Familiarity with accounting procedures and financial documentation.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling financial information.
  • Skills in handling customer inquiries and providing accurate information.
